The mobile unit

The mobile unit (the towed trailer) offers accessibility to areas which are deprived of proper medical care due to their inaccessible location. The mobile unit can be positioned at significant distances from hospitals or clinics, in cobbled or depressed areas, or targeted in the center of the village in order to facilitate the access of the local population. Patients tend to embrace the use of mobile health care delivery because it minimizes the transport time.

Over time, the mobile units have been used for many purposes due to their versatility, their main advantage being the ability to relocate as often as needed. The mobile unit is therefore used for caravans centered on a single specialty (pediatric caravans, women’s health caravans, cardiac pathology caravans), which limits both the number of volunteers involved and resources used.
